Background
Katie Majors is a prominent Vocal Trainer/Coach working in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Katie grew up doing professional musical theater and sang with the Pacific Chorale Children's Chorus for many years, working under famous conductors such as Carl St. Clair and John Alexander in regular performances at the Performing Arts Center and Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. She first studied private voice under Jan Ritschel, and was chosen to sing on a children's cd with one of Jan's Broadway famous students, Susan Egan (Original Belle on Broadway, voice of Meg from Disney's Hercules). In her teenage years, she began working with Fullerton and Downey Civic Light Operas and local Dinner Theaters. Favorite roles include Anybodys (West Side Story), Zaneeta Shinn (The Music Man) and Belladova (Phantom). After working in parades and shows for Disney, she finally decided to follow in the footsteps of her father and try her hand at rock and pop music, and for several years played in bands in the Hollywood and Orange county areas. Venues include The Whiskey A Go GO and The Rainbow Room. While playing in the LA, and OC music scene, she began studying voice under Seth Riggs and his associates, and more extensively under celebrity vocal coach/analyst James Lugo of American Idol and Vocal Asylum in Hollywood. Katie later went on to work on her degree in Music Education at Cal State Fullerton, putting herself through school by playing weekly gigs in a classic rock duo at Captain Jacks in Sunset Beach. During her time at CSUF, Katie found a new love for classical music and opera, and was chosen to be in the touring choral groups University Singers and Chamber choir, under Dr. Rob Istad of the Pacific Choral.
She has been teaching voice for over 7 years.
